Reece pulled back from Isabella, his hands caressing her arms as he gave her one more soft kiss on the lips before letting her go. “I’m going to give Jack a call to fill him in on what we’re doing. I won’t be long.”

Isabella watched Reece go into their hotel suite’s bedroom and finally moved away from the door.

Walking over to the spacious parlor, what Reece had called the sitting area when they arrived, she sat on the sofa. Absently fanning her fingers over the expensive material on the seat cushions, she looked around the room.

They were staying in a historic luxury hotel in the French Quarter. The light fixtures in the suite were chandeliers, and all the accents were gold, including the frame around an ornate-looking mirror. A light, yellow-colored wallpaper in vertical stripes covered the walls, and everywhere she looked screamed opulence.

When they were almost at the hotel to check in, Reece had explained that he’d asked Jack to book a suite. There was a separate bedroom and fold-out sofa, which Reece told her he’d take. After she’d propositioned him once and then had their little rendezvous in the gym yesterday, the fact that he hadn’t assumed anything would happen between them spoke a lot to his character. He was not the muscle-bound himbo she’d accused him of being.

She winced as she remembered what she’d said in front of his friends and family. Definitely not her finest moment. Reece was so much more than he appeared, and he was a gentleman.

Before arriving at the hotel, he had conjured a small suitcase for each of them. He said he wanted them to appear as a loving couple getting away for a night. Although he hadn’t said it, she knew he didn’t want people to get the wrong impression of her. That she wasn’t the type of woman a man took to a hotel just for a quick rendezvous, no matter how luxurious the venue was.

After they’d checked in, they’d each taken a shower and conjured clean clothes before heading back out for a late dinner. Reece took her to Bourbon Street and employed the same trick he used at the apartment building to get them on the reservation list. He was constantly full of surprises.

They’d feasted on jambalaya, and he’d entertained her with stories of growing up with his sister and two female cousins. As if by unspoken agreement, neither of them mentioned their brothers.

When they’d returned after a late dinner, they had only managed to get inside the room and shut the door before they’d reached for each other.

“I let Jack know that we’re going to head back to the antique shop in the morning,” Reece said as he walked back in, shaking her out of her thoughts of earlier in the evening.

She smiled when he came over and took her hands, pulling her to her feet.

“I want to do something.”

She raised an eyebrow as her lips curved upward. “Oh really? And what is it you want to do, Mr.
